Lighting Control & Automation

1. Automatic Light Levels

Usually we turn the lights on after sunset. However during particularly cloudy days we find ourselves turning them on during the day as well. This wastes energy as the lights always turn on to 100% brightness even though there is natural light coming in from the outside.

With our algorithms and lux sensors we program the lights to automatically dim just enough to complement the natural light coming inside the house. This means that the lights are not consuming 100% power when there is no need for them to be on full brightness. Depending on how dark it is inside the house, the lights will dim to save power.

These lights are also motion activated, which will turn on when you enter the room and turn off when you leave. All the settings of the lights can be adjusted from the interface of the Fibaro Homecenter 2.

2. Power Saving Mode

In this mode, the maximum brightness of all the lights is reduced to 80%. This usually doesn't affect the perceived brightness of the lights but still saves power.

Another feature that is activated is standby mode - if there is no motion in the room for a specific time, the lights automatically dim by 30% saving further power, before turning off.

Power saving mode also reduces the overal brightness level of the house, meaning the system will try to take more advantage of natural light than usual, by dimming or turning off your lights completely.

3. Night Mode

Night mode is automatically activated once you go to sleep. Late at night if you walk out of your bedroom, the lights turn on slowly letting your eyes adjust to the brightness.

The overall brightness of the house is also reduced to 70% to not strain your eyes. However if there is constant movement for a long period of time, the brightness level is returned to its default setting as the system assumes you are up.

The settings of Night Mode can also be accessed and adjusted from the interface, giving you complete control of your home's lighting system.

If required, all the lights in the house can be returned to manual state, to function normally with light switches, by turning on manual mode. This can be done by either double flipping the individual light switch, or through the interface. There are several other wireless lighting features that we develop according to the specific requirements of our clients, if you would like to know more then please get in touch.
